Congratulations on making the decision to join the Yellow Jacket Family! We’re excited to meet you, and we know you have lots of questions about what to do or where to go. This page has a “checklist” of all the items you need to complete before arriving to campus this Fall.

Make sure you’ve submitted a Housing Application
You can check the status of your housing application via the Housing Portal. If you realize you forgot to apply for housing, please send an email to email@example.com ASAP.
Select a roommate
There are multiple ways to select a roommate. For LLC students, your roommate MUST also be a member of your LLC. For more information about the timeline and logistics of the roommate selection process, click here.
Roommate selection is now live in the Housing Portal. Room selection for First Years will open in July.
- Go random
If you choose to go random, no further action is required! When your room selection time ticket opens, simply select an empty bed in any room within your LLC building. If another student has already claimed a bed in that room, you’ll be able to view their name and information after you claim your spot.
- Use the roommate selection tool
The housing application contains a roommate selection tool that allows you to match with other students based on living compatibility, like how clean you keep the room or what time you prefer to sleep. Once you’ve completed the quiz, you can sort other students of the same gender based on their similarity to your answers. If you find a student that you’d like to room with, simply click the “Request as Roommate” button. That student will receive a message in their housing portal, where they will have the option to accept or decline.
There are various ways to meet other students in the Georgia Tech Class of 2024. You can post in the Official Facebook Page or meet other students via unofficial LLC GroupMe’s (the links to these chats are located below in the “Community” section). You can also meet students at your LLC’s social during FASET.
Select a room
When you apply for Housing, you won’t be able to select the LLC building(s) as your preferred building. We will let Housing know that you are in the LLC, and when it comes time to select your room, you will only see your LLC building(s) and rooms as options.
Register for Classes
Each LLC has different required courses for their first-year students. Check out the LLC Course Guide for info about your LLC course options and requirements. Registration is based on time tickets and will occur during your FASET Orientation. All course registration occurs via OSCAR. Visit this page from the Registrar’s office for how-to videos, FAQs, and additional information regarding course registration.
Each LLC will host a session for incoming LLC students as part of your FASET experience. You should receive an email from your LLC’s Director with more information regarding your session dates and times. For more information about FASET, click here.

Check for LLC Fees
All LLC students are required to pay a semesterly fee of $400 to cover community programs, activities and events, co-curricular materials, project supplies, and more. These fees will be applied to your Bursar’s account and should be visible by August 5th. If you do not see this fee after August 5th, please email email@example.com ASAP.
Meet the Rest of Your Cohort
Each LLC has unofficial*, student-run GroupMe chats that allow students to casually communicate with one other. These optional chats may include incoming students, LLC alumni, and Peer Mentors.
*Georgia Tech, the Office of Undergraduate Education, or respective LLCs and their departments are not liable for the contents of these chats. They are entirely student run and we offer these links for our students to communicate and do not endorse them as an official method of communication.
Get Connected via Social Media
Each LLC has a variety of social media accounts and websites that they use to contact students and share events, activities, and announcements. Links to each of these accounts and websites can be found on our homepage, here.
